On Friday, 7.August, a COVID-19 infection was confirmed for one employee of the Icelandic Transport Authority ICETRA. The information representative of the Icelandic Transport Authority Þórhildur Elín Elínardóttir told Morgunblaðið, 46 employees of the agency were sent to quarantine.
Þórhildur added that all COVID-related activities are based on the principle to disrupt the institution’s activities as little as possible, but all theoretical ATPL and PPL exams that were to take place on 10-14 of August have had to be postponed indefinitely.
Most employees will be able to do their work from home, according to Þórhildur, and she adds that the staff has been in fairly good training since this spring. “This has an insignificant effect on operations,” says Þórhildur, mentioning that a total number of employees at the Icelandic Transport Authority is 140.
