The purchase of three new helicopters for Landhelgisgæslunar (Icelandic Coast Guard) must be postponed. This is stated in the budget proposal of the Minister of Finance, which was presented today. ISK 2.2 billion had been expected for the purchase this year, but that authorization expires. The Landhelgisgæslunar receives ISK 350 million to rent an additional helicopter.

In the budget proposal for 2019, it was proposed that the Landhelgisgæslunar receive ISK 1.9 billion to buy three new helicopters. They were to be delivered in two years and the total investment was to be ISK 14 billion.

The Landhelgisgæsluna received ISK 2.2 billion in last year’s budget for the purchase of new helicopters.

The budget proposal presented this morning states that this purchase has been postponed. An additional helicopter will be rented for ISK 350 million and Landhelgisgæslunar will receive ISK 50 million to cover increased rent payments for the construction of a new hangar.
