Icelandic wet-lease operator Air Atlanta applied for AOC on Malta to create a daughter company Air Atlanta Europe, the airline’s statement says. Malta itself across the world is famous for its lower taxes and simplified procedures.

The management of Air Atlanta says this step will “increase its competitiveness in the ACMI market, post COVID-19”, which will allow them to increase market reach and access for ACMI and charter operations.

There are nine Boeing 747-400 freighters in the airline’s fleet. The most recent one with tail registration TF-AMC was presented to Icelanders during low pass over Reykjavik downtown and airline’s office, which some citizens found scarying. Also the airlines has there are six passenegers Boeing 747-400 and one Airbus A340. Before the COVID-19 the airlines was going to extend fleet with passengers Boeing 777 and Airbus A330, but then changed its strategy.

There are several customers of Air Atlanta across the world, the main are Astral Aviation, Magma Aviation and Saudia Cargo.
