Has got a tailstrike. What is known about the second PLAY’s Airbus A321neo past

The second Airbus A321neo for airline Play has arrived in Iceland on 4.July 2021. The plane with registration TF-PLA performed flight from Amarillo Rick Husband International Airport, USA (ICAO: KAMA) where it was painted in Play’s colours.

This plane, same as Play’s first Airbus with reg. TF-AEW, is leased from AerCap and previously was flying for Interjet. TF-PLA previously was flying with registration XA-JOE. During its exploitation in Interjet, the plane has got a tailstrike.

The incident has happened on 24.February 2020 when the plane was performing flight 4O2901 from Havana-José Martí International Airport (ICAO: MUHA) to Mexico City-Benito Juárez International Airport (ICAO: MMMX). During the landing on runway 05R in Mexico City the plane touched the surface with its tail and scratched some painting. Pilots applied full thrust and performed go around the procedure. The plane has landed safely 14 minutes after this.

Nine days after the incident the plane had to be ferried to the maintanace center in Toluca International Airport. However, the plane had to return to Mexico City after take-off and 36 minutes of flight.
